Support during a challenging year
2020 presented urgent community needs due to COVID-19, social injustice and natural disasters, and we responded with rapid donations and other support for relief.
COVID-19 response
$3.65 million
• Financial relief for food, emergency and arts organizations • Rent abatement for our building tenants
• Free meals and parking for onsite essential employees
• Facilities health and safety improvements
• Donation of 30,000 masks to health care organizations
Social justice funding
$821,000
• Financial relief for small businesses owned by Black, Indigenous and people of color that were damaged during civil unrest after George Floyd’s death
• Built on existing investments that provide computers and internet access to students most in need
• Major financial contribution to fund learning pods in underrepresented Twin Cities neighborhoods
• Signed on to the Minnesota Business Coalition for Racial Equity to address systemic racism collaboratively through policy transformation, philanthropic shifts and corporate diversity, equity and inclusion efforts
